Brit Timothy Timotheau Wins European Masters of Poker Lisbon

British player Timothy Timotheau has defeated 393 opponents to win the European Masters of Poker Lisbon, taking down €86,680 for the first prize.
The win came even sweeter as that at the end of Day 1a Timotheau was the short stack of the tournament with just 5,300 in chips to his name.
In the final hand, Timotheau flopped a pair of Kings on a 7-4-K board. After a Jack on the turn, Timotheau bet out 140k. His heads up opponent Povilas Purtokas went over the top, all in, to which Timotheau called. Timotheau showed K9 to Purtokas’ pocket 10’s. Neither of the two remaining 10’s appeared and the Brit took first prize.
The event at Casino Estoril, Lisbon, was the third stop of the second season of the EMOP. The casino is also rumoured to be where Ian Flemming drew inspiration for the first Bond novel Casino Royale.
The final table finished like this:
1. Timothy Timotheau – €86,680
2. Povilas Purtokas – €53,190
3. Henrik Torsteenson – €34,672
4. Diogo Borges – €22,064
5. Paul Lucey – €17,336
6. Joao Candeias – €13,396
7. Mikael Tholander – €11,820
